About Take the Mic

Take the Mic creates space for young people to share their experiences, ideas, and vision for the future of our planet while the rest of us listen, learn, and discover how we can work together.

Each event begins with youth voices, followed by environmental storytelling through film and community partnerships that connect students and families with meaningful ways to get involved in conservation.

Our first gathering, Students Speak for the Ocean, will take place in Avalon on September 12, 2026, and will feature a live student discussion followed by an outdoor screening of Ocean with David Attenborough.

This is the beginning of a larger series exploring environmental issues through the voices of young people, inspiring films, and opportunities for communities to learn, connect, and take action together.
