About the event
Survival Science is a hands-on exploration of wilderness skills through the lens of science!
In this 6-week session, students investigate an essential survival concept through experiments, challenges, and practical skill-building. Topics may include fire, shelter, water, navigation, wildlife tracking, plant science, natural materials, and other foundational survival skills.
Rather than simply learning how survival techniques work, students discover why they work by exploring concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and ecology. Along the way, they'll learn how people have looked to nature for thousands of years to solve problems, adapt to their environment, and better understand the world around them.
Every class includes hands-on investigations, outdoor challenges, and a Field Challenge of the Week, giving students the opportunity to apply what they've learned while building confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
