Set out on a captivating kayak tour with us that holds the potential to reveal the wonders of gray whale migration. Gather at the meeting point for a brief educational session with your California Naturalist, setting the stage for the marine life adventure ahead.
As a group, we'll embark on an intimate exploration of the gray whale migration, all from the tranquility of a kayak! As these magnificent creatures journey from the Arctic to the lagoons of Mexico, witness their natural migration past San Diego during the winter. Our eco-friendly and non-intrusive kayak adventure provides a unique opportunity to connect with one of the planet's most majestic mammals.
Guided by experienced leaders, the group will paddle approximately two miles offshore, reaching prime locations to observe gray whales. Throughout the journey, absorb fascinating insights into the whales, along with captivating facts about other marine life and the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. It's important to note that gray whales are wild animals, and while a significant number are encountered during the season, we cannot guarantee sightings. However, the marine world has more surprises in store, and you may also catch glimpses of dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals, and other captivating marine life.
For a more enjoyable experience, we recommend one adult per kayak with a student, or two strong teenagers. A triple kayak may be available for two parents and a younger student.
After our adventure on the water, we'll regroup for a special gathering by the beach. Share your experiences, play games, connect with fellow homeschoolers, replinish with packed lunches, and relish the beauty of the coastal landscape.
This event is a voyage into the unknown, an opportunity to embrace the unpredictability of nature. It is sure to be a day of exploration, connection, and the joy of discovering the secrets the sea may reveal.
