About the event
Connecting our Fall semester astronomy studies to intertidal ecology and conservation. Come experience a classroom lesson, tidepool exploration, and hands-on activity with HFAC!
Tidepools are a fragile ecosystem brimming with life. In this interactive program, students learn about some amazing adaptations, defense mechanisms, and feeding strategies of the tidepool organisms. The in-class presentation is followed by gentle exploration of the tidepools which allows students to appreciate these magnificent invertebrates that rely on the rise and fall of the tides to provide food, shelter, and space.
In addition to the Crystal Cove Conservancy field trip onsite and pre-trip educational material, HFAC has partnered with the TIDE POOLER to bring unique educational material and commmunity science opportunities to all that join us!
After the docent-led tour, enjoy an optional extension lesson and hands-on activity with HFAC as well as free-play/swim!
