About the event
Join us for an extraordinary adventure in falconry and wildlife exploration! This action-packed event is designed for ages 5-17 and will take place from 9am to 2pm. Led by experienced falconer Adam Baz, aka Hawk on Hand, and California naturalists and educators from HFAdventureCommunity, it's an opportunity of a lifetime to get up close and personal with magnificent birds of prey.
During the day, participants will be guided through the fascinating world of falconry, learning about its rich history, the specialized equipment used, and the importance of raptor conservation. You'll have the chance to hold and fly trained birds in a natural setting, experiencing the sheer thrill of these majestic creatures in flight.
Schedule: 9:00 am - Arrival/Drop-Off and Introduction
9:30 am - Falconry Experience with Adam Baz
11:30 am - Lunch Break (please bring a packed lunch)
12:30 pm - Wildlife and Birding Hike with California Naturalists & HFAC Educators
2:00 pm - Pick-Up/Event concludes
Don't forget to bring a packed lunch as we'll take a break midday to enjoy our meal together and fuel up for an exploration hike through the park trails. As a bonus, professional quality photographs with the birds will be taken and made available for download, capturing your unforgettable moments from the event.
Cost for this incredible experience is $97 per student.
This cost must be paid during time of registration.
Parents! Does this sound amazing!? I agree!
You can also join in the falconry event for $75.
If you are not participating in falconry, we will have a designated area for the adults that are there during the presentation and experience, to observe without disturbing the birds or children.
During the hike, if an adult chooses to stay for the day, we encourage parents to kindly stay towards the back of the hike line to create an environment where children can interact and engage with one another. By allowing children to interact freely, we aim to foster a positive and independent experience for each participant. Thank you for your help in making this hike an enjoyable and enriching adventure for all involved.
What to bring: Packed lunch, sunscreen, hat, sturdy outdoor shoes, long pants, layered clothing (binoculars, nature journal, and field guides - optional for the hike). Please leave electronics at home for a fully immersive experience in nature.
Where to go: Google Maps will show "Hawk on Hand" location in Ernest E. Debs Regional Park.
