Become a chaparral pal with us on the trails in Glendora!
In this engaging nature class, you'll explore the unique chaparral biome and learn about California’s native plants—discovering how they adapt, their cultural and medicinal uses, and fascinating histories that help you feel more at home in nature.
What You'll Experience:
Learn what a chaparral biome is and the key adaptations of its plants.
Get introduced to 15 common California plants in their natural setting.
Discover cultural stories and medicinal uses for these leafy neighbors.
Enjoy a fun, guided hike that combines science, storytelling, and hands-on learning.
By the end of the class, you’ll recognize these plants on future hikes as trusted, familiar friends.
Meet Your Educator:
Your guide for this journey is Kelly—a passionate outdoor educator with a degree in Environmental Biology and Certified Interpretive Guide credentials. With extensive experience in ethnobotanical gardens and educational hikes, Kelly inspires students and families alike to connect with nature and become curious, engaged explorers.

Time: 9:30am-12pm
Location: Glendora Big Dalton Canyon
Age Group: Open to all ages and experience levels (adults included)
Materials: Please bring a journal and a pencil
Cost: $24 per student of all ages, accompanying adult to students age 17 and under is no charge
