About the event
New program for Winter/Spring 2025!
California’s dynamic winter-to-spring transition mirrors the changes in our own lives, offering powerful lessons in growth and resilience.
In HFAC’s immersive outdoor program, ages 11-17 will explore California’s rich ecosystems through engaging hikes, hands-on activities, and seasonal cycles. As they connect with the diverse landscapes and wildlife, students will also discover their own strengths, perspectives, and potential.
Research highlights the mental health benefits of time spent outdoors, and HFAC’s adventure-based learning encourages curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of themselves in a supportive, dynamic environment.

Q: "How old does my child need to be for this class?"
A: We recommend this for ages 11+ as it is focused on relating to the environment in this turning point in their loves. All information will be presented with an age-appropriate lecture and ecology hikes, and they will reinforce learning through journaling, hands-on projects and experiments, community science assignments and light homework.
